A vibrant piece of chinoiserie. This hand-painted **Chinese “Rose Canton” famille rose plate** is enameled over a soft **celadon-green ground** with a lively all-over scene: long-tailed birds in flight, butterflies and insects, peonies, roses, and fruiting sprays in the rich famille rose palette. “Rose Canton” — birds, flowers, fruit, and insects — is one of the most collectible of the Canton export patterns, and its blue-and-green-and-pink chinoiserie look is right on trend for grandmillennial and blue-and-white interiors. Beautiful on a plate stand, a gallery wall, or styled in a curated vignette.
The reverse carries a **blue underglaze square seal mark.** An honest note on age: Rose Canton celadon plates like this were made from the mid-19th century **through the 20th century, and have been reproduced since** — and blue seal marks of this type appear on both genuine antique and later/apocryphal pieces. From photos alone the exact age can’t be confirmed, so we’re describing it as **late 19th–20th century** and pricing conservatively. If an Asian-ceramics specialist confirms it as genuine 19th-century Canton, the value is meaningfully higher (see pricing).
